What Guys Look For In Girls – A Slam Poem

In a philosophy class we watched this video called What Guys Look For In Girls, it was a slam poem. The way the girl approached the video was she stated from the very beginning “When I first learned that no one could love me more than me…”. This first opening statement is so powerful. The first step to truly being happy is accepting yourself and realizing that YOU are BEAUTIFUL, and you do not need a man or any other outside person to tell you this. Girls at a very young age try and be someone they are not because it is deemed socially unacceptable to be an outcast. In the process of trying to fit in, people lose their true identity. The self hatred roots back so deep, that sometimes it is hard to remember who you are.

What I took away from this video is that to truly be happy, no outside person or thing can tell you are beautiful. You have to manifest your own dreams, and do what you want to do, no matter how “socially unacceptable” it may be, because in the end the main goal is self-love and self-fulfillment.
